A shipment to the Suffolk Cold Storage starts with a check-in at security. No vehicle enters or leaves the premises without being cleared by our security team.
After receiving security clearance, vehicles pass the main entrance to our building and proceed to the loading bays. The SCS facility is equipped with office space for our staff, large conference rooms for client meetings and a spacious break room for visiting drivers.
The SCS facility has 27 truck loading doors to help with quicker turn times; most trucks are turned in less than 2 hours.
After product is unloaded from the truck, it is immediately scanned into our HighJump WMS System from our 19,000 square foot refrigerated dock.
If specified by the client, separators are added in between products on every pallet.
Before being placed in a section of our 5,320,000 cubic feet of refrigerated space, pallets are shrink wrapped for protection.
Depending upon the type of product, some pallets make their way to our 448 pallet capacity Blast Cell.
Once in the Blast Cell, products can be quickly chilled to the desired temperature in as little as 36 to 48 hours.
Products are then placed in one of 3 convertible rooms with temperatures ranging from -10 to +48 degrees Fahrenheit.
Precise temperatures are maintained throughout the facility 24/7 by the use of Frick Computerized Warehouse Refrigeration Control Monitoring.
Products are then racked in the appropriate location. Our facility has a 17,500 pallet capacity of 2 deep reach racking for quicker retrieval of product.
When it's time for products to leave the SCS facility, we offer full pick-and-pack services if required.
Products are carefully packed, sealed and loaded onto pallets.
Throughout the entire receiving and shipping process, our senior level staff is present to assure everything goes smoothly - part of our commitment to industry leading customer service.
When it's time for shipment, pallets are carefully loaded back onto the truck and sent off to their next destination.
